Technidrive, a leading systems integrator specialising in motion control, has launched its new TD08-Radar and TD15-Radar sensors. These high-performance radar sensors improve precision and reliability in level measurement, delivering accurate, non-contact monitoring of solids and liquids across a wide range of industrial sectors.
The TD08-Radar and TD15-Radar sensors are built around advanced 80 GHz radar technology that ensures pinpoint accuracy even in harsh operating conditions. Designed for precision and durability, the TD08-Radar sensor is optimised for short- to medium-range applications, with a measuring range of up to eight metres and an accuracy of five millimetres. Its compact design makes it ideal for smaller tanks, containers or any area where space is limited.
The TD15-Radar, on the other hand, is engineered for long-range applications, offering measurements of up to fifteen metres with accuracy within two millimetres. Both models maintain stability under extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 80°C and are constructed using PVDF and FKM materials for chemical and environmental resistance. Their robust IP66/IP68 protection ratings provide dependable operation even in environments with dust, moisture and strong vibration.
“For decades, many industrial processes relied on ultrasonic level sensors as the standard choice for non-contact measurement. Ultrasonic sensors are affected by environmental factors such as dust or ragging, which can distort signals and create costly downtime due to inaccurate readings or frequent maintenance”, said Andrew Ritchie, technical sales manager at Technidrive. “80GHz radar technology overcomes the limitations of traditional technologies”.
In applications such as crushing and quarrying, these sensors maintain consistent and dependable readings. In water treatment facilities, they provide reliable data for pump control and reservoir management. In agriculture and food production, they deliver maintenance-free monitoring of feed, grain and process materials.
This versatility makes the TD-Radar range a true universal solution for industrial level measurement, capable of serving diverse environments without the need for complex configuration. In addition to offering precision and convenience, the TD-Radar sensors are designed for longevity. Their rugged construction minimises wear and tear, reducing the frequency of maintenance interventions.
Ease of use has been a central focus in the development of the TD-Radar range. It is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to perform setup and monitoring through a simple, intuitive mobile application. Engineers can complete the setup process in minutes using an app on their smartphone or tablet, even from up to 50 metres away. This feature saves significant time, reduces the need to access difficult or hazardous areas and ensures that the installation is done correctly the first time.
“As a systems integrator, Technidrive’s focus on automation has grown to meet industry’s growing demand for reliable automated processes. Level sensing plays a crucial role as the vision or input which we use to determine when motor speed, start or stop, or when materials need to be moved”, added Ritchie. “The TD-Radar provides our customers a multipurpose sensor that meets modern demands within an affordable price bracket.”
